Elizabeth McQueen on the Austin Artists show


Elizabeth McQueen stopped by the Austin Artists studio this afternoon


and we had a conversation with her about some of her story and we heard about her upcoming Interactive Music, Art Technology performance event titled : ‘Infinity + Infinity’  happening this Thursday and Friday at 7:00 & 9:00 pm at the Museum of Human Achievement { Springdale and Lyons }

We started off hearing about Elizabeth going to school at UMD in Maryland and getting degrees in English and Anthropology and doing social work for a while.

She decided she wanted to move to Austin and play Music, and that’s just what she did.

She tells us about going to gigs and meeting Musicians and starting her band Elizabeth McQueen and the Firebrands.

We played the song by them titled ‘We’re happy doin’ what we’re doin’ ‘

Elizabeth told us about the inspiration and collaboration that went into producing her latest event titled:

The inter-media music performance features McQueen’s newest ensemble, EMQ (with guitarist Lauren Gurgiolo and multi-instrumentalist Lindsay Greene), in conjunction with interactive structures designed and built by designer/visual artist Jerome Morrison. The work will utilize cutting-edge animation, audience-engaging motion sensor technology, and sophisticated building processes to create interactive, life sized, audience controlled visual environments (the PsiScreen, PsiBox and PsiWorld) working in tandem with McQueen’s all original music.
